Peru!

It is finalized! Over winter break I will be flying to Peru for 16 days of vagabonding. Unfortunately, I couldn't find another friend to jet so last minute and I'm too much of a wimp to brave South America alone, so I'm going with a tour group. While the phrase might evoke a shudder and images of obese, sunburned tourists with tacky shirts and cameras that never leave their necks, worry not! I found a great one through the Lonely Planet website for cheap, (I love you Lonely Planet), which will take me through Lima, Cuzco, Nazca, Arequipa, the Ccacaccollo Weaving Community, Ollantaytambo, and concluding with a four-day hike along the Inca trail to Macchu Pichu. It's going to be fast and gritty, and I'm looking forward to it, especially the trip to Macchu Pichu because I have heard they have decided to close it off to tourists. This may be the first and last time I'm able to see it. The Ccacaccollo Weaving Community sounds amazing too, I really wanted to do some humanitarian work over this trip similar to when I helped serve the BriBri in Costa Rica, and I'm hoping there's something they'll let me do in Ccacaccollo. Paragliding, horseback riding, surfing, hiking, I'm looking forward to all of it and will try to keep you posted as well as upload as many photos as I can. Wish me luck!
